Portrait of Syed Shoaib Roshan H

Generalist and product person at heart. Climate tech (ESG SaaS) is where that became everything.

Across the Indian ESG SaaS ecosystem I've held leadership seats building IFRS-grade reporting products, running high-stakes customer success, and driving GTM from the founder's office, now with an AI-native workflow underneath all of it.

Open to product, generalist and operator roles where the skills and synergies genuinely fit. Open to joining immediately.

About

I'm a generalist who found a specialism, and product management is where I do my best work. I started in consulting and data at McKinsey and then in talent-intelligence analytics, where I learned to turn messy enterprise data into decisions people actually act on.

Then climate tech became the thing I gave everything to. Across StepChange, Oren and Credibl ESG I have effectively been a product manager for regulated ESG software: I run discovery with the customers who use the product, translate IFRS S1/S2, ASRS and TCFD requirements into clear specs, shape and prioritise the roadmap with founders, and work day to day with engineering and data science to ship.

I have owned product sprints for climate-risk assessment, value-chain mapping and disclosure modules, built the dashboards on top with SQL and Power BI, and prototyped quickly in Figma, Replit and Cursor. I care about the whole loop: the problem, the workflow, the data model underneath, and whether an analyst's day actually got easier.

The through-line is IFRS-grade reporting and the unglamorous engine beneath it (GHG accounting, climate-risk assessment and disclosure drafting) which I automate so people spend their time on judgement, not plumbing. I'm now looking to focus fully on product management, and I bring the customer, commercial and data context that most PMs have to acquire from scratch.

One thing worth naming: ESG SaaS is a vertical of climate tech, and under the hood it is an AI-first B2B SaaS business like any other. The playbook is identical, ship product, keep enterprise customers successful, and open new markets. So this is not niche experience; it is a repeatable operating motion that transfers directly to any modern software company, in climate or well beyond it.

Every one of those workstreams runs on an AI-native setup: a mesh of Skills, Agents, Hooks and Tasks, mapped in an Obsidian knowledge vault so the knowledge compounds instead of resetting each week.

Selected work

Three problems I keep getting hired to solve: build the product workflows, run the customer engagement, and open new avenues of business through partnerships.

Client identities are masked; the work and the value are not. Each engagement is framed by the value it carried and how fast it was delivered.

01 · Product Management

Building the ESG product: reporting, accounting, disclosures, suppliers

I've built ESG software across three climate-tech companies: StepChange, Oren and Credibl. The product is really a suite of capabilities, covering IFRS S1/S2 reporting, GHG accounting, ESG disclosure writing (CRA and GRI), and supplier engagement. For each, I owned the workflow design and automated the engine underneath.

IFRS S1/S2 reporting, productised

Problem
Enterprises could collect ESG data but stalled when it came to turning it into audit-ready IFRS S1/S2 and ASRS disclosures. Climate risks, opportunities and value-chain mapping lived in scattered spreadsheets.
What I did
Led product sprints across climate-risk assessment, value-chain mapping and risk and opportunity reporting, and partnered with engineering and data science on the end-to-end reporting workflow and its dashboards.
AI-first approach
Reporting logic encoded as reusable agent workflows, so new disclosures are configured, not rebuilt.
Value
$40-60K in retained and expanded ARR across flagship accounts
Time to value
module set shipped across two quarters
IFRS S1/S2 ASRS Reporting SQL Power BI

GHG accounting engine

Problem
Scope 1/2/3 inventories across dozens of facilities were manual, slow and error-prone, and every cycle restarted from raw bills and factor lookups.
What I did
Built automated emission-factor mapping and calculation workflows (Exiobase/HSN, DEFRA, GLEC, EEIO) with validation and audit trails baked in.
AI-first approach
Agentic pipelines plus hooks that catch bad factors before they reach a client sheet.
Value
protected six-figure renewals by hitting audit windows others missed
Time to value
inventory turnaround cut from about two weeks to a few days
GHG Protocol Scope 1/2/3 Python Automation

ESG disclosures: CRA and GRI report writing

Problem
Climate-risk assessments (TCFD and IFRS S2) and GRI and BRSR narratives took analysts weeks per client and read inconsistently.
What I did
Built report-writing workflows that draft client-ready CRA reports (scenario analysis, internal carbon pricing, MACC) and GRI and BRSR disclosures from a structured model.
AI-first approach
Climate-risk and disclosure-writer agents turn a validated model into a first draft in minutes.
Value
supported $25-35K advisory engagements with far less analyst time
Time to value
report cycles compressed from weeks to days
CRA / TCFD IFRS S2 GRI / BRSR ICP / MACC

Supplier engagement programs, tested and launched

Problem
Value-chain and Scope 3 programs only work if suppliers actually respond, so scoring, assessments and outreach had to scale well beyond a handful of vendors.
What I did
Designed, tested and launched supplier assessment and scoring programs and value-chain (VCP) engagement, from supplier-scoring models first built at Oren through to large-scale rollouts later.
AI-first approach
Supplier-scoring and prefill agents standardise a previously bespoke, manual process.
Value
supplier programs spanning entire value chains, live in production
Time to value
iterated from pilot to launch within a program cycle
Supplier engagement Scope 3 Scoring VCP

02 · Customer Success & Consulting

Running the customer, the stickiest sustainability problems, end to end

From net-zero strategy consulting at StepChange to high-value delivery at Credibl, and grounded in data-analytics consulting at Draup and McKinsey, I've owned the hardest data and disclosure problems on tight, audit-driven timelines. Clients are described by archetype; specifics stay confidential.

Global payroll and HR-services leader, multi-country GHG ledger

Problem
A multi-country enterprise needed a defensible GHG data ledger covering waste, fugitive emissions, employee commute and purchased goods, consistent across geographies and ready for assurance.
What I did
Built the data-ledger SOP and country copy-config templates, ran the annual waste, fugitive and commute packs, and drove platform ingestion end to end.
AI-first approach
Country configs generated from a single source via scripts and agents, not hand-copied.
Value
expanded a multi-country engagement worth about $30-40K
Time to value
delivered against a hard external assurance deadline
Multi-country Scope 1/2/3 Assurance-ready

Tier-1 supply-chain and logistics enterprise, transport emissions

Problem
Upstream and downstream transportation emissions were tangled across modes and double-counted, which blocked a BRSR-ready inventory.
What I did
Modelled transport emissions on GLEC and DEFRA factors, ran de-duplication analysis, and linked the result to BRSR consumption disclosures.
AI-first approach
Repeatable transport-emissions pipeline reused across reporting years.
Value
delivered a filing-ready transport inventory ahead of the reporting deadline
Time to value
ahead of the statutory filing window
GLEC DEFRA BRSR Logistics

Listed medical-devices manufacturer, full Scope 3 upstream

Problem
There was no visibility into upstream Scope 3, where purchased goods and services and capital goods spanned thousands of SKUs and suppliers.
What I did
Mapped Cat 1 (PG&S) and Cat 2 (capital goods) via HSN and Exiobase, and stood up supplier engagement and guidance packs.
AI-first approach
Factor-selection assistant that resolves spend lines to the right EF at scale.
Value
gave leadership its first complete upstream carbon picture for disclosure
Time to value
single reporting cycle
Scope 3 Cat 1/2 HSN / Exiobase Supplier engagement

Diversified industrial major, inventory and supplier assessment at scale

Problem
A large industrial group needed a consolidated GHG inventory, KPI trackers and a supplier assessment programme across a sprawling value chain.
What I did
Consolidated the GHG calculations, built KPI trackers aligned to sector benchmarks, and ran a large-scale supplier assessment and scoring exercise.
AI-first approach
Emissions and supplier-scoring agents standardised a previously bespoke process.
Value
board-ready KPIs and a supplier programme covering the value chain
Time to value
delivered across the annual reporting cycle
GHG inventory Supplier scoring KPIs

Net-zero strategy and disclosure advisory

Problem
Clients needed credible net-zero strategies, materiality assessments and regulator-ready disclosures across multiple frameworks, not just a data dump.
What I did
Ran materiality analysis and life-cycle assessments, built ESG dashboards and GRI and BRSR packs aligned to GRI, SASB, CDP and the UN SDGs, and prepared advisory on EU CSRD and US SEC requirements.
AI-first approach
Reporting-taxonomy generators turn frameworks into ready-to-fill workbooks.
Value
advisory and reporting scope across several listed and enterprise accounts
Time to value
aligned to each client's disclosure calendar
Net-zero Materiality / LCA CSRD / SEC GRI / SASB / CDP

Enterprise data and analytics foundations

Problem
Before climate, enterprise clients needed messy data turned into decisions, through workforce analytics and energy-sector research at consulting scale.
What I did
Delivered workforce-analytics solutions with custom SQL and Python and Power BI dashboards, and ran primary and secondary research and Tableau dashboards for energy-sector consulting teams.
AI-first approach
The analytics rigour that now underpins my AI-native workflow.
Value
up to 30% client cost savings and 40% faster time-to-value
Time to value
per engagement, at consulting cadence

03 · Founder's Office

GTM, pre-sales and partnerships, from the founder's seat

After an internal promotion into the Founder's Office, I ran the commercial engine: the GTM motion, pre-sales and solutioning, and sales and partnerships enablement across partners and customers globally.

Pre-sales and solutioning engine

Problem
Complex enterprise ESG deals were stalling in evaluation, where RFPs, security questionnaires and bespoke demos ate weeks per opportunity.
What I did
Built an RFP-response engine, demo narratives, commercial models and governance decks, and owned solutioning across the funnel.
AI-first approach
An RFP-response generator drafts matrices and answers from a curated knowledge base.
Value
influenced $100-150K of pipeline and closed business
Time to value
RFP turnaround cut from weeks to days
Pre-sales RFP Commercials GTM

Partnerships and GTM enablement, globally

Problem
Partners and channel teams across geographies lacked a consistent story, enablement kit and joint motion.
What I did
Built enablement collateral and joint GTM plays, and drove partner and customer enablement across global markets.
AI-first approach
Deck and collateral generation on a shared, on-brand engine.
Value
a repeatable partner motion supporting the top of the funnel
Time to value
stood up across successive quarters
Partnerships Enablement Global

Sales enablement and market intelligence

Problem
Sales and CS needed fast answers, competitive framing and benchmarking, not slow, one-off research.
What I did
Built a custom analytics and FAQ engine, ran competitor analysis, and produced benchmarking that shaped both GTM and the product roadmap.
AI-first approach
A knowledge assistant that keeps sales answers current and consistent.
Value
faster deal cycles and roadmap decisions grounded in the market
Time to value
always-on rather than per-request
Competitive intel Benchmarking Analytics

Chief of Staff: strategy and fundraising groundwork

Problem
An early-stage ESG analytics company needed product strategy, a credible roadmap and investor-ready groundwork.
What I did
Worked directly with founders on product strategy and roadmap, built ESG supplier-scoring models from market research, and laid groundwork for fundraising.
AI-first approach
Research and modelling accelerated by early agentic tooling.
Value
founder-level leverage on strategy and the raise
Time to value
across a formative company stage

The engine

An AI-native operating system

Every workstream above runs on the same setup. I've wired my day to day into a mesh of Skills, Agents, Hooks and Tasks, with an Obsidian vault as the memory layer, so knowledge compounds instead of being re-explained each week.

01

Skills

Reusable playbooks for GHG accounting, CRA writing, RFP response and materiality, each a self-contained how-to the agent loads on demand.

02

Agents

Specialists per workstream (climate-risk writer, emissions QA, proposal builder) that execute a skill end to end.

03

Hooks

Guardrails that fire automatically to classify the task, keep the token budget tight, and block confidential data from leaking.

04

Tasks

One routed job per client workstream, so the right skill, agent and scripts load and nothing else.

Obsidian as the memory layer. An Obsidian knowledge vault maps it all together: raw sources stay immutable, an LLM-maintained wiki summarises and links entities and concepts, and a schema keeps routing consistent. Answers get filed back, so the system gets sharper every week.

Beyond work

The short version of who I am when I'm not shipping ESG software, or doing some work in the climate-tech space.

I travel to think. I've ridden close to 90,000 km on a motorcycle across India, long solo stretches that are equal parts reset and research into how the country actually lives.

I make things for people, live: I write, I sing and play the guitar, and when there's time I do stand-up comedy and improv. Getting on a stage keeps me honest about reading a room, which turns out to be half of product and all of sales.

The work I care about most is community. With friends and family I help run a small, community-sized centre that provides rehab and mental-health support for the elderly and for people from under-privileged backgrounds. I've been involved in this kind of work since university, with You&I and organisations like it, and I still teach every week.

VC / Investor

Operator across product, customer and GTM in climate-tech SaaS

A generalist operator with about five years across data, consulting and climate-tech SaaS. I have influenced $100-150K+ of new business, touched 50+ enterprise sustainability accounts, and held product, customer success and founder's-office seats at Credibl, Oren and StepChange. I build IFRS-grade products, keep the biggest customers successful, and drive go-to-market, all on an AI-native workflow that lets one operator do the work of several.

  • Commercial impact: influenced $100-150K+ across pre-sales, partnerships and expansion, with an RFP engine that cut deal-prep from weeks to days.
  • Zero-to-one instinct: Chief of Staff and Founder's Office seats, including product strategy, roadmap and fundraising groundwork.
  • Market fluency: competitive intelligence and benchmarking that shaped both roadmap and GTM across global markets.
  • Domain depth: IFRS S1/S2, ASRS, TCFD, GHG accounting and disclosures, the regulated core of the ESG category.
  • Leverage: an AI-native operating system (Skills, Agents, Hooks, Tasks) mapped in an Obsidian vault, so knowledge compounds.

If you're backing or building in climate or ESG SaaS, I'm worth a conversation.
